A STORY FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Finding the Right Person for the Right Job
When Electric Service Pros first partnered with Generac, it didn't take long to realize something important: home standby generators are a world unto themselves. The products, the installations, the service calls, the warranty processes, the customer training — each piece demands genuine expertise. Early on, rather than do it halfway, we made the difficult decision to step away from that market entirely.
Then Hurricane Helene hit. Watching tens of thousands of North Carolinians lose power — some for days, some for weeks — made it clear we couldn't stay on the sidelines. But returning to generators meant doing it right, and doing it right meant finding one specific person.
"Not just someone with a license to install. Someone who truly understands these machines — and the people who depend on them."
We spent over a year looking. The person we needed had to understand small engine mechanics, low and medium voltage systems, diagnostics, and sales — but equally important, they had to be someone who could sit across from a homeowner, earn their trust, and explain complex systems in plain language. That's a rare combination.
Jon Teague is that person. His background is unlike anyone else on our team. He began his career in the electrical trade, then moved into high-end 4x4 fabrication and performance vehicle builds. He restored vehicles others had written off, turning them into auction-grade showpieces. He worked on professional race cars — eventually joining a pit crew on weekends, and at one point competing behind the wheel himself.
From there, Jon transitioned into heavy-duty truck modification at a corporate facility, where his technical instincts and steady patience moved him quickly into a senior leadership role. He's someone who can work with his hands and lead a team — but what drove him to Electric Service Pros was the opportunity to put all of that experience to use helping real people, in real situations, where the stakes actually matter.
Generators aren't just a convenience. For many of our customers — those on medical equipment, families with young children, elderly residents in our community — they are a lifeline. Jon understands that. That is why he passed Generac's Certified Service Dealer National training in with one of the highest scores in his class, and why he holds every certification our service program requires.
We're proud to introduce Jon Teague as our Generator Sales and Service Manager. If you've ever had questions about whole-home backup power, or if Helene or any other recent events left you thinking it's finally time — Jon is the person you want to talk to.
